sports minded

di ako malaking fan ng football.. actually, di ko nga alam kung ano ba ung sport na un.. hello, sakitan lang ata ng katawan! hehehe.. pero now that i’m in texas, matunong pala ang football dito.. we have the Dallas Cowboys (Dallas) at ang UT Longhorns (Austin).. walang football team ang San Antonio kaya nga inampon nila ang New Orleans Saints.. ok lang na walang football team, may Spurs naman! =) nagiging sports minded na ata ako! hehehe.. =)

**In 1902, the Tournament of Roses® Association decided to enhance the day’s festivities by adding a football game. Stanford University accepted the invitation to take on the powerhouse University of Michigan, but the west coast team was flattened 49-0 and gave up in the third quarter. The lopsided score prompted the Tournament to give up football in favor of Roman-style chariot races.

When did the Rose Bowl Game begin? The Tournament of Roses Association was started in 1890 by the Valley Hunt Club and became a separate organization just five years later. The Rose Bowl Game is known as “The Granddaddy of Them All”® because the 1902 event was the first national, post-season, collegiate football game. In 1916, the second Game was played, and football has been an integral part of America’s New Year’s festivities ever since. The Rose Bowl Game has been a sell-out every year since 1947 – the first game under the Tournament’s exclusive agreement with the Big Ten and Pacific Coast, now the Pac-10 conference. Today the Rose Bowl is part of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) which guarantees a match up between college football’s top two teams in a true national championship game.

ahh.. un naman pala! hehehe.. astig! this year it is against these two teams.. Trojan vs. Longhorns.. USC Trojans ang defending champs and they had won 34 games straight.. while UT Austin Longhorns won 19 games straight.. it was a close game.. and it ended Longhorns victorious 41-38. home-court advantange na nga ang USC, kaso magaling talaga ang longhorns! to think na college football lang ito! kala ko NFL na! malalaki ang katawan pero mabilis tumakbo.. si Vince Young ang main man of this game.. kasi ba naman, lamang ang USC 38-26 ata, tapos dahil sa touchdown ni Young, nanalo pa sila.. to think na ilang minuto na lang.. galing talaga! =)
