Monetize your life.

If it works online, why won’t do it offline? This is part 1 of a series of posts tackling ideas for utilizing monetization techniques done on the web for use on our daily living. It may sound funny or ridiculous at first or maybe even scary, but it is certainly possible.

PayPerPlug

We see this happening everyday on tv, primarily on talk shows, where a part of the program whenever a celebrity will soon end their broadcasting exposure, it is then that they suddenly burst out their sponsors that they have memorized from the heart.

But why limit these advertisements to the stars? Where one sponsorship would cost them dearly? How ’bout small-time players in the industry which could not afford all that? Or businesses with a limited market, not suited to broadcasting nationally?

For businesses, give rewards to customers for referring your service to their friends and others who they talk to everyday. Give them points whenever a new customer arrives because someone recommended them to do so. Points get accumulated over time and you could set the payout in terms of cash, discounts, or your own product or service. I recommend setting the payout value too large that they would not be able to reach it in their lifetime, but be sure to make the offer sound convincing.

For individuals, reward your friends when they use your name as a referral ID in using the services and or purchasing products from businesses where you are signed up as an advertiser. Be creative, you don’t have to invest money for rewards, you could offer them simple things like to introduce them to someone you know that they really like but are afraid to make an approach in exchange for 50 points in your name in that salon by the church. Heck, you could even break-up with your girlfriend for someone interested in her, but with an equivalent price of course.

Well, you could always play it passively by just including your “sponsors” on every conversation. If someone suddenly blurts out he’s hungry, give the name of that kiosk that gives extra fishballs for referrals, or that local fastfood that awards a second glass of drinks. The key here is to promote, so gather your convincing powers into tricking everyone into your sales talk.

Soon you’ll be enjoying how nicely you fit those sponsored lines you say everytime, without people noticing. Setting you apart from those people who does not in anyway give effort to cloak sponsors, like your talking to your bestfriend about your crushes then she arbitrarily bring the conversation on how the price of a can of sardines is lower on the other store. Or what was that report on your history class where the presentation had the logo of the nearby karinderia in every slide. Or remember your classmate who always want to recite in order for him to cite where he had his haircut?

With these in mind, no matter whose perspective you look at it, it’s a win-win business model. For businesses, you would usher in a bunch of disillusioned customers. For individuals, with just a small amount of effort, you could make a living with enough affiliates.

The question now is, when will you start commercializing you life?
